Love Studio
1 Canvas Print 9’-9’, 22 pigment print 20”- 20” and A mirror Installation, 2012-13
An old studio in Dhaka transforms into a neighborhood venue to represent the dreams, hopes and desires of the many factory workers or unemployed nearby. They can decorate this world according to their dreams.
I enjoy representing reality in an alternate space. In the harsh reality of people struggling, unable to live their dreams, and for me this seems to be the rare moment of self-release. What we see isn’t necessarily the whole story, and when I take pictures, I try to delve into the fictional aspects of the story. A boy working at a roadside tong might be a movie buff, and if I photograph his story, I will try to explore his love for movies rather than his daily life.
